Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This high-end bot from Eufy is the best hands-off model we've seen so far. It vacuums, mop, self-empties, and washes and dry mop pads without your intervention.
It doesn't have advanced cleaning functions or a bigger docking system, but it delivers stellar performance at less than half the price of the top robotic vacuums. It has a compact design and is able to reach under furniture.
Vacuuming
A robot vacuum is a simple and quick way to keep your floors clean. A lot of the models we've chosen are designed to run without your involvement and you can set them up to sweep while you're away, or even trigger a session from your smartphone. You'll need to select one that has excellent navigation and object detection in order to avoid getting stuck under furniture or down the staircase.
It is essential to choose a robot vacuum that can effectively and efficiently clean all types of flooring. Find a model with a a dustbin that can hold plenty of dirt in between emptying and a nozzle that doesn't lose suction as it rotates to take debris.
The majority of robots require little or no maintenance, aside from taking out tangled fur from the rotating brush after each cleaning session (and wiping its sensors or camera as needed) and regularly emptying the bin or using a robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these easy maintenance tips, your robot vacuum should last as long as larger vacuums and help keep your home tidy for longer.
While robot mops are generally less versatile than their vacuuming counterparts they do have the ability to clean up the puddles and spills while they're doing their thing. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of such a machine, which is a good option for those with wood floors or a mix of carpets and rugs. It's quiet and has solid navigation capabilities that helped it avoid obstacles during testing, and the charging dock doubles as a trash bin.
Select a robotic vacuum cleaner that is able to mop simultaneously. This is what the Karcher RCV 5 can handle, and it also offers other handy features like live cameras that send a grainy image to your app so that you can check on your pet or kids, as well as an easily programmable remote control. The navigation might not be as good as the other models in this selection but its 500ml trash bin is big enough and doesn't require frequent emptying.
Mopping
Robots that vacuum and mop are relatively new to the market. They are more expensive than standalone robots and require an additional water tank, but the extra cost may be worth it for many people, particularly those who have difficult-to-clean stains or pets.
Some of the top robots can clean floors and carpets and also vacuum. There are many brands that offer robots that can perform both tasks exceptionally effectively. The Combo J9+ is among the most efficient mopping robots that we've test. It comes with docks that can hold up to 60 days' worth of dirt. This is a significant improvement over the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping just 30 days' worth of dirt during our tests.
The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP-Link is another very great two-in-one. It's quiet, compact, and has a clean, fuss-free appearance. In our test rooms it cleaned the floors efficiently and thoroughly - it was particularly effective in cleaning rugs, however it required several runs to scrub certain areas of wood that were stained. Its LIDAR navigation system works very well, avoiding bumps into furniture or crossing power cords.
It's a bit sluggish on the stairs however that's to expected from a compact robot that's designed to work around obstacles. The only downside is that its mopping pads are difficult to attach and didn't stay put during our tests. Additionally, it isn't equipped to deal with dirt that has dried and makes it more of a vacuum cleaner instead of a full-fledged mop.
smart robot 's still a great choice for those who prefer a hands-off experience and want to clean low-pile or bare carpets equally well. It offers a decent amount of suction, which helped it to remove dust and pet hair from carpets. Automatic carpet recognition is a fantastic feature as it increases the power of vacuuming to tackle dirt that has been embedded. It's also user-friendly and has a handy charging dock that automatically empties the bin once it's filled, which is a real boon for flat dwellers.
Cleaning apps
The majority of robot vacuums, mops and sweepers have an app that allows you to customize cleaning routines. You can also choose rooms to be cleaned, schedule cleaning sessions, and alter settings such as suction, water levels and scrubbing strength. Some robots offer intelligent dirt detection that utilizes maps and cleaning data to prioritize dirty areas.
You can also use an app to create virtual barriers and no go zones to shield your robot safe from potentially dangerous objects, like cords and pet water bowls. Certain models have laser navigation sensors that permit you to create virtual barriers while others come with small physical barriers and boundary strips that can be put anywhere you'd like to limit the floor area.
The most effective robot vacuums and mops are smart enough to recognize obstacles and maneuver around them, but there are still some hazards to watch out for. For instance, a robot's main brush could get stuck on long curtains or cords and stop the machine from running. You can avoid this by clearing the area of any cords and tying off any curtains that are long before operating your robot.

Some robots automatically update the software that governs their navigation and obstacle avoidance techniques, which enhances performance and reduces wear and tear on the robot's internal components. It is recommended to check regularly the manufacturer's website or your robot's app for firmware updates.
If you have a large home, look for a model with multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on hard and carpeted floors using different suction settings. It also has the ability to automatically switch to the highest power setting for carpets and increase its scrubbing power with SmartScrub.
If you're looking to be hands-off, a robot with a voice-activated assistant is a fantastic option. The iRobot Roomba 980 can be operated by Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant. It has a small, self-emptying docking station and powerful cleaning motor that leaves your floors sparkling.
